In today’s electrical contracting environment, project speed, reliability, and cost control are critical. Supply chain disruptions, fluctuating material prices, and extended supplier lead times can quickly impact project delivery and profitability.

These are challenges that need to be addressed, and I’m pleased to say … we have.
When we moved to Optima Park, the plan was to convert the massive space it came with into, not just storage, but systemised stock management and logistics part of the business. The move was part of a proactive approach by pre-purchasing and storing essential components in a well-managed warehouse.
By maintaining an in-house stock of commonly used electrical materials, we can streamline operations, improve quoting accuracy, and support our engineers working in the field, who no longer have to take time off the job running to the wholesaler for unexpected parts.
Kevin Camber has joined the team as our Procurement Manager, and we are delighted to have his experience on board.

What really is the advantage of all this hard work.
1. Faster Turnaround
Having critical electrical components readily available means engineers can collect the required materials immediately rather than waiting for supplier deliveries. This significantly reduces downtime between project stages. Instead of delaying installation work while waiting for parts to arrive, teams can move straight from planning to execution.
2. Competitive and Reliable Pricing
Material costs can fluctuate frequently. By purchasing commonly used items in advance, often in larger quantities, we secure better pricing from suppliers.
3. Improved Job Preparation
An organised warehouse, managed by an experienced procurement professional – go Kevin – allows materials to be prepared on a job-by-job basis.
Before engineers head to site, their kit is assembled and checked, ensuring everything needed for the job is ready.
4. Supply Chain Control
Supply chain disruption has become a major challenge across many industries, including electrical contracting. Components that were once readily available may suddenly face long lead times. Holding essential stock provides a buffer against these disruptions.

5. Increased Productivity for Engineers
When engineers can simply collect a prepared set of materials for each project, they spend less time sourcing parts and more time doing what they do best, installing, maintaining, and delivering the high-quality electrical work we’re known for and are so proud to supply.
6. Quality and Consistency
With an experienced procurement manager overseeing purchases, JGF ensure that stock items meet consistent quality standards.
7. Even Greater Customer Confidence
Clients value contractors who can deliver projects quickly, efficiently, and reliably. Demonstrating that you maintain a fully stocked warehouse of essential electrical components signals professionalism, preparedness, and operational strength.
Investing in in-house stock management is more than simply storing materials, it’s a strategic decision that improves efficiency, reliability, and competitiveness.
It’s been hard work and many of Team JGF have contributed so much to the project. But, it has been well worth the effort – thank you all.
